I recently heard someone say that “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter,” and, while it didn’t take me all of two minutes to discern what a reprehensibly shallow interpretation of freedom was espoused by the pernicious promulgator of such a decidedly asinine comment, I thought my words would be better served by a less devolved creature than this barbarian, and so I am laying it out here.
He was, of course, talking about the ‘oh so valiant’ efforts of the ‘Islamic Emirate of Iraq…’ You know, that ‘other Gaza,’ Gaza’s ‘kissing cousin,’ the one the Ummah doesn’t talk about--but sorely defends out of all proportion to their numbers. I wouldn’t belittle my audience by pretending that they don’t understand why the Islamic Emirate of Iraq is so nobly acceptable for the sake of a united Ummah--but I will say that people with their head in the sand shouldn’t be so long winded--they’ll blow their cover. And a statement like “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter” is certainly full enough of hot air.
I could take a paragraph or two to compare the ‘Freedom Fighters’ of today with the excesses of the American and more-so the French Revolution, but I think I can sum that up so succinctly in one sentence that I need not waste time. Comparing the revolutionaries who fought their way into modernity and human rights, true liberalism and the sanctification of free speech, comparing them to the Mujahiddin of Iraq (among other places) is like comparing the Big Bang to a Black Hole! I am sure you understand the gravity of this moral inversion.
Just for kicks let’s take a look at what the leaders of the Mujahiddin are fighting for:
From The Islamic Emirate of Iraq and Al Qaeda, the new Freedom Fighters:
“the war is a war on our country...aimed at the
elimination of Islam in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan,
Somalia, Chechnya, Waziristan and other Muslim countries.”
(We) “Reveal the falsity of this process called Western democracy,
and the lie of human rights”
“We ask you , Allah, to enable us and attributed the victory of Islam and Muslims”
“God destroyed (sic) the enemies of religion, Jews and Christians and communists, the Heathens and Shiites, and all heretics and atheists. O Allah, Revealer of the book of Heaven, swiftly send severe torment and punishment for justified reasons on the Conqueror of the people.”
“Trap and kill the infidels and enemies of religion.”
If these are fighters for freedom, I would much prefer my slavery, thank you. And if there are those around here who think the problem is perspective--you had better say Shahadah just in case. After all, every black hole has an event horizon, no? And if you are frozen in time now, chances are you’ll be reconfigured soon into a one dimensional deconstruction of a man--from which light will never, ever, shine forth again.
